Ross Morgan is an Australian artist, illustrator and author based in Adelaide, South Australia. His illustration practice grows from a longstanding interest in visual storytelling, imaginative worlds and the deeper meanings that can be expressed through an image.

​

Working primarily through traditional drawing and painting, Ross creates narrative and conceptual imagery that brings together atmosphere, character and symbolism. Moving between imaginative realism and surrealism, his work often occupies the space between reality and imagination, suggesting larger stories through expressive environments, carefully observed details and images that invite the viewer to look beyond the surface.

Illustrated picture books have been central to Ross’s commissioned work, alongside projects for film productions, including film posters, character illustrations, storyboards and original artwork created for use within films. He is interested in projects that allow for a thoughtful, interpretive approach to image-making, from publishing and screen-related work to covers, editorial illustration and other creative briefs where imagery can contribute to a larger idea.

His background in fine art informs his approach to illustration, combining strong draftsmanship and considered composition with an interest in the emotional and conceptual qualities of an image.
